Exercise and Training are two different things:
Exercise is physical activity for its own sake, a workout done for the immediate effect it produces during the workout and right after you're through. It enhances and maintains your physical fitness and overall health. Assorted workouts fall into this category.
Training is physical activity done with a longer-term goal in mind, where each and every succeeding workout is specifically designed to achieve that goal. Training involves following a structured program designed to elicit specific adaptations in the body, such as progressive overload in strength training. Personal training sessions fall under this category.
It depends on your goals, fitness level, and budget. In our initial consultation, we’ll talk through all of that and find what works best for you—whether that’s training 2–3 times a week together, or meeting once a week with you completing the rest on your own. There’s plenty of flexibility built in.
Training sessions happen in the comfort of your own home. I bring all the equipment needed, and if you have your own, I will gladly incorporate it into your workouts.
All training sessions are paid in advance, whether you schedule a single session or a Monthly Membership.
Single Sessions are ideal when you need just one appointment for a specific goal—like checking your exercise form, learning a new skill, or completing a fitness assessment. You're eligible for a full refund if you cancel the session 48 hours in advance, after that, there are no refunds, but we will try to reschedule the session for another time slot.
A Monthly Membership is designed for ongoing training to help you reach your fitness goals. This is to help you stay consistent with your training sessions. You choose between 1, 2, or 3 sessions per week, and we’ll set your schedule together before the month begins—so you’ll know exactly which days we're meeting and the total amount due for that month.
This is a flexible, month-to-month plan. No contracts. You can cancel future Monthly Membership training any time before the new month starts at no cost. Once payment is made for the upcoming Monthly Membership, you have 48 hours to cancel; after that, no refunds are issued, but we will try to reschedule your training sessions.
Please note-- when you book a personal training session, that time is reserved exclusively for you—I’m unable to offer it to anyone else. Because of this, cancellations should be limited to true emergencies only, such as illness, accidents, or a death in the family.
Feeling tired is not a reason to cancel. I always tailor workouts to your wellbeing, and adjustments to your workout can be made on the spot so that you feel happy and able to perform your workout. Remember, that the most important factor in reaching your fitness goals is consistency. That means never missing a workout.
Emergency cancellations will be rescheduled whenever possible. Non-emergency cancellations are not eligible for refunds or rescheduling.
If I should need to cancel a session due to an emergency, you will receive a full refund for the cancelled sessions.
That’s completely understandable. I’m specially trained to help older adults improve their fitness without pain. For an arthritis condition, each session includes a gentle warm-up to ease joints, stretching to reduce stiffness, low-impact strength work, and a calming wind-down to relax. We increase intensity only when you’re ready. If you're experiencing a flare-up during our session, I will modify your workout on the spot to take this into account.
I’ll also help you recognize the difference between normal muscle soreness and signs of a potential injury—so you can feel confident and safe as you progress. You won't just exercise-- you'll rebuild trust in your body.
Your fitness assessment will include a fall risk evaluation, along with checks for muscular imbalances and mobility limitations that may be affecting your balance.
Balance training is always part of the program, and we’ll begin right where you are. You’ll have plenty of support at the start, and we’ll only increase the challenge when you’re ready— progressing at a pace that feels safe and right for you.
Absolutely! First, strength is the basis of athletic ability. If you want to be a better athlete, you get stronger. We will work on a progressive overload strength training program to help achieve this adaptation. Second, we'll work on functional training which focuses on compound movements to help your body move better in everyday life and in sport. Third, we’ll work on full-body conditioning, also including corrective exercises to target any muscular imbalances which can limit your movements. And fourth, we will apply sports-specific exercises to train for your particular sport, whether that's pickleball, tennis, golf, softball, or any other sport you engage in. All this will help you build strength, prevent injuries, and help you reach the next level.
You’ll also learn sport-specific exercises, stretches, and warm-ups you can do before each practice, which are designed to enhance your performance and prepare you safely for your sport.
Yes! You can sign up for one or two sessions and I will check your form for every exercise you do during your workouts, as well as make any necessary corrections where needed. Body weight exercises, dumbbell exercises, and kettlebell exercises, all fall under this category.
If your healthcare provider or physical therapist has cleared you to begin exercising, then yes—we can absolutely start training sessions. I’ll tailor everything to your current abilities and recovery stage, with gentle progressions and modifications built in.
If needed, I’m happy to connect with your provider to better understand your condition and make sure our sessions support your healing safely and effectively. Your comfort and confidence are my top priorities.
Absolutely! Before we begin your training program, we’ll start with a full fitness assessment to establish your baseline. From there, we’ll build a safe, progressive, and personalized plan tailored just for you.
We’ll look at muscular imbalances, health history, past or current injuries, nutrition, stress levels, and sleep habits—everything that could be affecting your progress. By adjusting how you train with a program designed specifically for your needs, we can break through plateaus and help you move forward with confidence.
